We are seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to lead the development, design and delivery of key policy projects on a range of people-related topics. This is a full-time, ongoing position (part-time will be considered) within our People & Culture division. While WFH/hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Policy and Research Manager, the successful applicant will support the division to implement policy positions and legislative requirements in HR policies and procedures and work with subject matter experts to draft content, identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop policy initiatives that meet departmental objectives including resourcing, timeline, quality and budget parameters
- Provide authoritative, strategic advice and briefings on complex issues to AV's senior management and external stakeholders
- Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports and recommendations for action for a range of stakeholders, including Executive
- Identify contemporary, reliable sources of evidence to support recommendations and decision-making
- Engage and consult with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective interface between policy development, program development, planning, service design and policy implementation
About you
The successful applicant will have completion of a postgraduate degree or industry certification (or progress toward) with high level relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and sound experience. Other requirements include but not limited to:
- Extensive experience in policy research, analysis and making evidence-informed recommendations to support the development of policies and programs
- Experience within a large, complex organisation or government department (desirable)
- Demonstrated project management skills to define and deliver agreed outcomes, including guiding and coordinating others to support project delivery
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a range of formats suitable for diverse audiences
- Strong analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enable policy design and development
