We are seeking a Director Clinical Governance & Performance to provide strategic leadership within our Quality and Clinical Innovation Division. This is a full-time, ongoing position, while WFH/hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Blackburn North headquarters and other required locations across the state in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director Quality& Clinical Innovation, the successful applicant will lead Ambulance Victoria's clinical governance functions to ensure they are contemporary, evidence-based and patient focused, underpinning the delivery against AV's Best Care strategic quality framework. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Lead the effective operation of AV's clinical governance framework and processes to ensure the highest levels of quality, patient safety, and experience, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strategically design, develop and deliver a performance excellence approach – developing and implementing operating systems based on identification of performance standards/measures, monitoring of performance against the standards, identification of performance variation and development and implementation of initiatives to address performance gaps
- Apply extensive knowledge to identify and address issues and risks and ensure activities undertaken by Clinical Governance and Performance are managed responsibly, complying with organisational monitoring and reporting requirements legislative policy, organisational objectives, budget, and designated timeframes
- Promote strategic clinical objectives and build knowledge networks with operational managers and clinical leaders to ensure that the clinical practice of Paramedics, Volunteers and Co-responders achieves performance standards and enable performance indicators for quality and safety to be met
- Provide professional expertise along with strong and effective leadership, contributing to a performance based, collaborative culture to foster professional development and continuous improvement across the division
About you
The successful applicant will have completion of a postgraduate degree or industry specialised certification (or progress toward) with high level relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience. Other requirements include:
- Authentic senior leadership experience with recognition as an inspiring communicator and a powerful champion of high-quality, person-centred care in a large and complex health care or other organisation
- Proven experience in the development and management of high profile clinical risk and improvement programs with strategic scope and organisational impact
- Extensive working knowledge and demonstrated experience in leading quality and change through establishing and implementing Quality Systems and Clinical Governance Frameworks
- Outcomes driven with strong demonstrated experience in measurement, evaluation and analysis of quality and patient safety performance metrics and data literacy
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to effectively communicate authoritative advice and recommendations to variety of audiences including AV's Executive and senior stakeholders
